Mount Fuji is Japan's tallest peak at 12,389 feet (3,776 meters), located on Honshu Island between Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures. It's famous for its near-perfect conical shape and as a UNESCO World Heritage site, drawing climbers each summer from July to September when trails like the Yoshida route are open. Winters are cold and snowy (averaging 20°F/-6°C at the summit), but you can ski at Fujiten Snow Resort or soak in hot springs with Fuji views at Lake Kawaguchi, while spring brings cherry blossoms along the Chureito Pagoda viewpoint.
